[net.news.group] digital hardware engineering newsgroup

sleat@aat.UUCP (05/09/84)

I missed <4577@amd70.UUCP> <6307@lanl-a.UUCP> in net.micro, but
chalk up one more person interested in programmable logic devices
(and most other hardwareish things). Why not an analog of net.analog
(oh, the irony...): net.digital?

I'm all for a digital newsgroup, if anyone's counting votes.

I would also like to join a hardware engineering newsqroup.

How about using net.arch until a need is shown?
If there is a lot of volume, we can always create
a net.arch.digital or some such.

klmartin@watmath.UUCP (K.L. Martin, Hardware) (05/17/84)

I would also like to put my vote in for this groups creation.

sct@lanl-a.UUCP (05/18/84)

How do we get a hardware newsgroup started? It seems to me there
is a lot of interest out there in netland.

sct@lanl-a.UUCP (05/18/84)

Why net.arch?? What does it have to do with electronic hardware?

ken@turtlevax.UUCP (Ken Turkowski) (05/20/84)

There is quite a bit of difference between discussions of digital
components and computer architecture. I second the request for
net.digital.

net.arch is full of abstract arguements about pyramids and the like,
hence I do not subscribe as I am primarily interested in the availability
and performance of components. Other people in this place worry about
higher level things. Almost all the hardware topics come up in net.micro
and net.lan. I would read net.arch.electronics but am not prepared to
sift through an unrelated group to find the hardware articles.

net.hardware or net.micro.electronics please.
