The findings indicate that elementary school children's early beliefs are consistent with their phenomenal explanation of a stationary flat earth and an up and down movement of the sun and moon. These beliefs appear to be quite resistant to change and rise to a number of misconceptions which reveal children's difficulty to assimilate current scientific views. -------
