[net.jobs] LAN Protocols and Hardware Design & Evaluation - resubmitted

drs@linus.UUCP (Dorthy R. Sullivan) (02/25/84)

My apologies to those of you that did not receive this job posting correctly thefirst time that it was sent - we have a bug in our software which will be fixed shortly:

The Computer and Networking Technology department, D34, at the MITRE
Corporation, Bedford, MA has an opening in a two-person project at Bedford
for someone to analyze the requirements for a protocol to provide real-time
equipment and process control over both a Local Area Network (LAN) and a
concatenation of networks involving local and global networks. This individual
should be familiar with modern packet switched networks and the hierarchy of
protocols that support them. Familiarity with the ARPANET and/or the DoD familyof network protocols (e.g., TCP,IP,FTP,TELENET, etc.) is essential, as well as
an understanding of current LAN technology. Experience with related real-time
network technologies (e.g., packet voice) would be desirable.

This position will require an ability to work with the customer in
defining the protocol requirements, developing a network model, designing a
suitable protocol sepcification, analyzing its performance, and verifying its
ability to meet performance requirements in a DoD internetwork environment.
Future work could include actual test-bed implementation of the proposed
protocol and the development of application level protocols suitable for the
customers' field site operations.

Candidates should have a BS degree, a minimum of three years experience
in communications and networking, clear technical writing and oral presentation
skills, and possess, at least, a SECRET clearance. Current TS/SCI access
would be very helpful. For more information, contact Brian P. Schanning,
MITRE, (617) 271-3728.
