JOB OPPORTUNITIES AT
BELL COMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH INC.
Hi! I'm presently working in the Applied Research Area of Bell
Communications Research Inc. (formerly known as the Central
Services Organization) that is serving the divested regional Bell
operating companies. To quote our executives:
"Our aim is to be
the world's best organization
for telecommunications research."
Specifically, I'm working in a division that's responsible for
applying research towards the next generations of local
telecommunication switching systems. We presently have openings
for qualified persons in the following areas:
- Mathematical Modeling.
We're looking for an outstanding candidate with
training/experience in the analysis of switching
architectures. This includes the analysis of traffic
characteristics, switching network capacities, cost profiles
for various architectures, etc. This position requires an MS
or PhD in Mathematics or EE.
- Communication Theory.
The candidate for this position will have a strong EE
background, preferably at the PhD level, with training and
experience in modulation techniques. Some experience in
optical communication and video hardware design is also
desirable.
- Optical Communication.
We require an outstanding candidate at the MS or PhD level
with experience in the design of optical transmitters,
receivers, taps, couplers, etc. for lightwave distribution
systems. Persons with demonstrated, hands-on experience are
preferred.
- High-Speed Analog Circuit Design.
Persons with an EE background and expertise in the design of
high-speed analog circuits are sought. Experience in the
design of multiplexers and switches for wideband
voice/data/video switching and distribution systems is a plus.
- Data Communications Protocols.
We're looking for persons with an EE or CS background at the
MS or PhD level with experience in the design of data
communications protocols. A familiarity with X.25 is
mandatory. Experience with protocol validation and testing
techniques is a plus.
- Distributed Software Systems.
We're seeking outstanding individuals with a Phd in CS and a
strong interest in the architecture of distributed software
systems. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in the
design of distributed database systems and/or real-time
software systems.
We're temporarily located in Illinois and New Jersey. However,
we'll be consolidated in Morristown, New Jersey, this spring. I
won't bore you with the perqs, but there are plenty. If your
interested and qualified, drop me a line or give me a call and
we'll talk further. We're an equal opportunity employer, of
course.
