			SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

The Microelectronics Center of North Carolina (MCNC) needs a Systems
Programmer to specialize in expanding our DOCUMENT PRODUCTION
capabilities. We need an individual to design, document, code, and
maintain an integrated system for the production of high quality documents
and presentation quality graphics. Other duties will include recommending
appropriate hardware, assisting in the formulation of objectives and
providing general support programming for research activities.

The system will run on our VAX 11/780's and 750's running 4.x BSD Unix
and will most likely be based on TEX. It will need to support our laser
printers, bitmapped monochrome terminals, high resolution color monitors,
high and medium quality printers and plotters (color and b/w), and a
Dunn camera system. Because much of our documentation is technical papers,
the system will also need to support a bibliographic data base.

MCNC is a not-for-profit corporation supported by the State of North
Carolina and Industry that is developing a national research and
educational program in Microelectronics. We work closely with
several area universities and research organizations.
MCNC is located in the middle of the state, in Research Triangle Park,
midway between the mountains and beaches and within 20 minutes drive from
Duke University, North Carolina State University, and the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Applicants should have a Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
programming experience and knowledge of UNIX and C. Experience in document
production and high resolution plotters and terminals is desirable.

I will be glad to answer any questions you have about the job or to accept
electronic resumes.
