COMPUTER CENTER DIRECTOR
WANG INSTITUTE OF GRADUATE STUDIES
The Wang Institute of Graduate Studies is dedicated to academic excellence and
innovation in Software Engineering education. An MSE (Master of Software
Engineering) degree is currently offered and special emphasis is placed on
technology transfer between industry and academic areas. To support this
mission, the Institute's computer center manages diverse hardware and software
for a limited number of users. For example, the Institute has Vax 780, Apollo,
PR1ME and Wang systems with software engineering tools such as Ingres, PSL, and
Interlisp.
We are looking for a director of the computer center who can plan and
coordinate this diverse computing environment for the Institute's specialized
software engineering needs. This individual must be able to:
- Plan and implement the growth of the computing environment of the
Wang Institute
- Provide technical consultation with software experts
- Evaluate state-of-the-art hardware, software and communication
systems
- Supervise and provide technical leadership for full-time programming
and operating staff.
Applicants for this position should have:
- A strong, positive track record in computing projects
- A reputation as an effective manager
- A substantial technical background
- Knowledge of the graduate academic environment.
Teaching specialized technology courses and supervising student team projects
is encouraged through adjunct faculty appointments. Salary is competitive.
