           LANGUAGES AND ARCHITECTURES FOR AUTOMATION

                       June 26 - 28, 1989

     The seventh IEEE Workshop on Languages and  Architectures
for  Automation -(former IEEE Workshop  on  Languages  for
Automation)-  will  be hosted by the Universidad  Politecnica  de
Madrid,  Spain, in cooperation with the University of Connecticut
and the University of Dortmund.  The cooperation of the IEEE  has
been applied for.

     You are invited to submit an original research paper on  any
of the following subjects:

                     MAN-MACHINE INTERFACES
                        VISUAL LANGUAGES
          PATTERN RECOGNITION METHODS AND ARCHITECTURES
                    KNOWLEDGE REPRESENTATION
          DECISION-SUPPORT and DECISION-MAKING SYSTEMS
                         NEURAL NETWORKS
                REAL TIME and PARALLEL PROCESSING
         APPLICATIONS SPECIFIC INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DESIGN
               SOFTWARE TOOLS FOR HARDWARE DESIGN

     Authors are requested to submit four copies of their  double
spaced  typed  manuscript (in English) on 8.5 by 11  inch  or  A4
paper by January 2,  1989.  Each paper should include a 50 -  100
word  Abstract  and should be no  longer than  15  pages.  Papers
should be sent to the closest Program Chair:

     Authors  will  be notified by  March  1,  1989.  Photo-ready
copies of accepted papers written on special stationery  provided
