Theme Session:
Application of Artificial Intelligence, Expert System or
Knowledge-Based System methods in Geological Sciences
This theme session is designed as part of the overall theme:
"Frontiers in Geosciences", for the upcoming internationally-
flavored Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America
(GSA) and its associated societies. A brief announcement of this
theme session is attached below. Please forward it to your col-
leagues and other researchers who may be interested in presenting
their work. Detailed information on the meeting programs and
instructions for preparing abstracts are available on a separate
package.

Theme (#22): APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE,
EXPERT SYSTEM OR KNOWLEDGE-BASED SYSTEM
METHODS IN GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Contributions (oral or poster) are solicited on the application
of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Expert System or Knowledge-Based
System methods in Geological Sciences. Given the interdisci-
plinary nature of this subject, this session will give represen-
tation to applications in all subfields of Geological Sciences.
The emphasis is on contributions that increase awareness of these
new techniques to the broad community of Earth Scientists.
An exhibit of AI related hardware and software is being planned.

theme number: T22 , in your abstract form. Abstracts reporting
work in an advanced stage of progress are also welcome.
