I get about a 4 to 1 compression on TARGA halftones. It's especially good when you know that the output device has a limited number of grayscales (like the LaserWriter with 32), as you can do a little of the halftoning on the host by rounding the bytes to some number of grays that is slightly greater than the number you're getting (factoring in, of course, any scaling that is performed on the image). h Pat Wood bellcore!phw5!phw bellcore.com!phw5!phw ---------------------------------------- Submissions to: desktop%plaid@sun.com -OR- sun!plaid!desktop Administrivia to: desktop-request%plaid@sun.com -OR- sun!plaid!desktop-request Paths: {ihnp4,decwrl,hplabs,seismo,ucbvax}!sun Chuq Von Rospach chuq@sun.COM Delphi: CHUQ Now, where did my ex-wife put my Fairy Dust?
