What: part of the new release of the Mac system and finder. where: at your dealer, or off of one of the major timesharing services (Compuserve and Delphi for sure). Also check with the local users groups. when: Now. It is released and available. System 4.0 and Finder 5.5 is out and shipping, along with all the ancillary programs. The new laserwriter software is LaserPrep 4.0 and Laserwriter 4.0. These are the ONLY pieces of software recommended for 512K machines, the System and Finder are recommended only for Plus and larger memory configurations. Folks with old ROM's are Out of Luck -- why haven't you upgraded? The new laserwriter/laserprep is faster. It fixes bugs. I've been using it for a few weeks, and it looks pretty good. Be aware that some things are NOT compatible with it: Filemaker Plus does something strange so that it bombs the initial print attempt, but it works after that. I've been meaning to call those folks and ask about it (it also failed under LW 3.3).
