A recent posting to the net about Unix TeX available from northwest computer center was a red herring: it's a WEB implementation which translates into pascal. There seems to be a few C implementations of TeX around, but they are all shrouded in an abstruse mythology which becomes more abstruse the more you try to grab hold of the product.
