I'd like to find some companies who take Postscript files directly from a Macintosh diskette or modem and typeset them on some high quality device, eg. a Linotype L300. I tried a couple NY area typesetters listed under "Graphics" in the "MacWorld Directory" but those ads turned out to be pretty bogus. There's an emerging nationwide chain called "Alphagraphics" which does scanning, let's you rent time on Page Maker, does Mac -> L300 printing, etc. but all their jobs have to be mailed to Arizona. What do you folks know about such services in other parts of the country? As a side note, I called over a hundred typesetters, printers, etc. around New Jersey, most of whom advertised "computer printing". About 10% asked "What's a Macintosh?" Over 75% asked "What's Postscript?" And then there was the manager at a major typesetting firm here who laugh wildly and said "You've got to be joking, nobody takes desktop publishing seriously..." paco. ----- ihnp4!opus!paco ... 201/61-L4PAW ... I suggest that you check out "Publish!" magazine. They normally have two or three ads per issue from companies that do exactly what you want. We used one in L.A. this summer and they did great. I believe there were ads for some East Coast companies but I'm not positive. Jeff Wallace ARPA/Internet: jeffw@scam.Berkeley.Edu U.C. I dug up the current issue of "Publish!" and found the following companies advertising that they do Linotronic output for people with PCs and Macs. The first two specifically stated that they use an L300. I don't know what machines the others use (probably L100s).
