A while back I posted a request for information about high quality paper for a laser printer and what follows is the summary of the information I received over the net and from my own investigations. I would really like to thank everyone who replied and especially Gary Benson for digging for some more in-depth information. The responses I got seem to be fairly well split over Hammerhill Laser Plus and CF Laseredge. Both papers are coated to help lock toner and prevent diffusion into the base. Both papers are extremely white (reflective, bright). I got a sample pack of both papers and tested them using a newsletter that contained six different fonts and some fairly straight forward graphics (no greyscale or great detail) and found the CF Laseredge paper to be the best. CF Laseredge is very, very white which really made for sharp images and the coating seemed to work better then the Hammerhill Laser Plus in terms of toner bonding. I used an Apple Laserwriter Plus to produce the newsletter. Inmac Laser Paper and Xerox 4024 Dual-Purpose 28lb. where also mentioned as good papers, but I didn't try them out. I didn't get any specific pricing information, but the high quality papers seem to be in $15 - $30 per ream price range. Again, thanks to everyone who responded and sorry it took so long for this summary to get out. Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with any of the above mentioned products or organizations. Statement of recommendations are simply my opinion. -- ============================================================================== == Mike Gionfriddo == uunet!steinmetz!brspyr1!mikeg == I need a miracle == == mikeg@brs.com == ihnp4!dartvax!brspyr1!mikeg == everyday == ============================================================================== ---------------------------------------- Submissions to: desktop%plaid@sun.com -OR- sun!plaid!desktop Administrivia to: desktop-request%plaid@sun.com -OR- sun!plaid!desktop-request Paths: {ihnp4,decwrl,hplabs,seismo,ucbvax}!sun --- Chuq "Fixed in 4.0" Von Rospach chuq@sun.COM Delphi: CHUQ
