I'm looking for a filter to translate PostScript files (created via
TeX/LaTeX --> .DVI ---> .PS) into a format readable by Compugraphic
Typesetters. Does anyone know of such a beast?

Well, CG now sells CG Script which is advertised as a Postscript to MSC Language converter. This is for the 9600,9700,8600 and the 8400 too (I am not positive on the last one). The degree of compatibility between postscript and the typesetter depends on the CG typesetter: 9600, 9700: 'fully compatible' in other words, it is POSSIBLE to do everything that PS does, but it may not be easy/fast 8600: this is somewhat less compatible I believe due to the restricted command set and greatly likmited typeface dimensions The rub: the package is an AT with software written by a RT. 128 company whose name I cannot remember or find easily (it was in the TypeWorld review of CG Script within the last two months) for about 10k. If you do not want to have a turnkey AT sitting next to the typesetter you may want to contact the software company and see if they will license the software for other CPUs. -- hal hkbirke@media-lab.media.mit.edu DISCLAIMER: i do not work for Compugraphics and have never actually seen CG Script.
