The seemingly endless stream of dribble on yuppies (no one mentioned TINKs) doing desktop pub sounds like bruised egos. Desktop pub is just an application for the ol' silicon machinery. True, it may not be justified for memos, but it has the same justification as does using letterhead, having a secretary type it, immense distributions, etc which are geared for "political" reasons within the enterprise. My system makes money in the local economy for my wife (to be), and is used by myself for "office" work. The laser (an HP) is addictive (speed, no dots, quiet) and I would want it anyway. Once I do a memo in Wordperfect or the like, it's only a few keys to get Ventura to tag it, print it, and be done with it. Now, whether it's a fancy presentation or a plain old memo, I get attention. The same logic applies to doing resumes on off color paper. It gets and keeps attention because it's different and pleasing to the eye. If you've got the ability to excel and create quality work in this world do it! Too many people settle for mediocrity (and they're usually the ones upset by the challenge). netsys!skipster ---------------------------------------- Submissions to: desktop%plaid@sun.com -OR- sun!plaid!desktop Administrivia to: desktop-request%plaid@sun.com -OR- sun!plaid!desktop-request Paths: {ihnp4,decwrl,hplabs,seismo,ucbvax}!sun
