[comp.text.desktop] Interleaf and window managers

AAD%GOLD.SCRIBE.COM@VB.CC.CMU.EDU (01/29/88)

It's true that it's convenient to have all software available in the same
environment, but remember that Sunwindows isn't the only window manager out
there. Lots of people run things like X and Andrew. And while it would be
nice if everyone made their software available and the same for all
window managers, it's a reality that things like Interleaf are hard
enough to write to begin with, and that maintaining identical products
under 3 window managers would be a reeeeeal hassle.

Now don't get me wrong -- I'm not "defending" them as much as I want to
point out that Sunwindows isn't the only thing you can run on a sun,
like DEC won't admit that anything other than VMS runs on vaxes.
