It's true that it's convenient to have all software available in the same environment, but remember that Sunwindows isn't the only window manager out there. Lots of people run things like X and Andrew. And while it would be nice if everyone made their software available and the same for all window managers, it's a reality that things like Interleaf are hard enough to write to begin with, and that maintaining identical products under 3 window managers would be a reeeeeal hassle.
