Sequoia Systems is nearing completion of its high-performance fault-tolerant multiprocessor system. The system features a modular tightly-coupled architecture, with incremental expansion to more than sixty processors, ninety i/o processors, and 256 Mb of memory. I/O controllers use Multibus interfaces; the rest of the system is a proprietary design based on M68000 series processors. The operating system is UNIX compatible. Utilities are UNIX ones, but we've written a kernel to match our architecture. We are targeting our system towards transaction processing, and have both a state-of-the-art relational database system and a traditional transaction-processing system. We are developing commercial networking systems to tie Sequoia computers into existing mainframe applications. The software engineering group is seeking qualified people to work in the OS, Database, Communications, and Compiler groups. At least one year of systems programming is required, with UNIX and C experience desirable. There are also a number of positions available with the hardware engineering group, involving specification, design, and integration of fault-tolerant systems. Please contact Caroline McGrail Sequoia Systems Inc. Boston Park West Marlborough, Massachusetts 01752 617-480-0800 for further information. We are located near the junction of Route 495 and Route 20, easily accessible from Boston. Dave Brownell {genrad|allegra|ihnp4|ima|amd70}!wjh12!sequoia!brownell
