STAFF MEMBER OF THE LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY
Responsibilities:
Work in system libraries for all Laboratory computer operat-
ing systems (including CTSS, VMS, NOS, UNIX, DOS, CP/M, and
others). Design and implement a common system library
across all systems. Investigate process-to-process communi-
cation techniques, including but not limited to interprocess
communication (1) among processes within a single computer,
(2) among processes residing in different computers, and (3)
among parallel processes within the Class VII environment.
Design and implement common process-to-process communication
system to supplement and enhance existing approach and
become basis for Class VII interprocess communication. Work
independently to plan and complete major software projects
in a timely manner. Interact extensively with system pro-
grammers, consultants, users, and other Laboratories in the
analysis and solution of complex software problems.
Experience Requirements:
Experience in programming in FORTRAN and assembly language
required. Experience in and knowledge of operating systems,
interprocess communication, multitasking, and parallel pro-
cessing highly desirable. Experience in programming in
assembly language and FORTRAN on CTSS and VMS also highly
desirable. Understanding of and experience with UNIX desir-
able. Experience in programming on NOS and personal work
stations helpful.
Educational Requirements:
Masters degree in computer science or a related technical
field, or the equivalent combination of education and work
experience required. Consideration for this position will
