Has anyone ever heard of or had experience with a UNIX based word processor called Word Era by Tigera Corp? They claim to be powerful enough to use for producing quality documentation/user manuals (however they are not WYSIWYG). I would be interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything about this product (especially with personal experience). My company is considering several options for moving our vi/troff-based documentation department to a WYSIWYG system like Pagemaker with MAC or Ventura with IBM-type PC. I've heard that Pagemaker is not necessarily the best DTP program for large manuals. Is that still the case with the latest version (on the MAC)? Anyone who could share their experiences in switching from vi/troff system to DTP for manuals, etc. (problems, noticeable increase/decrease in productivity, etc.) - I would greatly appreciate it.
