[comp.text.desktop] Desktop Publishing Systems

nejdl@uunet.UU.NET (Wolfgang Nejdl) (06/13/88)

We are currently trying to evaluate different desktop publishing systems for
our SUN's and came up with the following systems:

		Arbortext Publisher
		Framemaker
		Interleaf UPS

Has anybody experiences with later versions of these packages or comparisons
thereof? If there is additional interesting software we should know of, we
would be glad to hear about it.

There was another thing, we were wondering about. We are using TeX (esp. LaTeX)
a lot and all these packages have no convenient import/export facility for
LaTeX sources (Arbortext has such a facility, but it is not convenient, you
cannot translate LaTeX documents into real Publisher documents and vice versa).

So, maybe we should really stay with LaTeX (and packages like VorTeX) and not
buy such a DTP package?

Please e-mail all answers to me, I'll summarize the mails.

Thank you.
