[comp.text.desktop] .PCX and TIFF

jonradel%icecream.Princeton.EDU@Princeton.EDU (Jon Radel) (07/11/88)

As of Dec. 1987 the definitive source of information on the .PCX
format was "Technical Documentation for PC Paintbrush, PC Paitbrush
+, and Frieze Graphics" by ZSoft Corporation. At the time, it was
free for the asking. I'd assume that it or an updated version is
still available. You can drop them a note at:

ZSoft Corporation
1950 Spectrum Circle, Suite A-495
Marietta, GA 30067

As for TIFF, Dr. Dobb's Journal had a very useful article in the May
1988 issue. For further information, the article gave the following
addresses:

For a copy of the TIFF standard, or to comment on it:

Manny Vellon
Windows Marketing Group
Microsoft Corp.

For a copy of the TIFF Library Package (source code for routines to
read and write TIFF files, a sample program that uses them, a utility
to examine TIFF files, and some TIFF files to serve as a informal
validation suite), mention the article in a request to the following
sources:

for Macintosh:
Bear River Associates Inc. or call

P.O. Box 1900 ask for the TIFF Library Package

for IBM PC (though when I asked for this I got Mac disks too):
