We are considering bringing a tabloid (11"x17"!!) publication "inside" and
producing camera ready copy (except for pictures) using several Mac-based
systems with final output to a Lino 300 (out-of-house). Questions...
1. Does anyone know of a proof printer (300dpi) which can handle 11x17 paper
and which will be compatible with a Mac-based network (and doesn't cost a
fortune)? (These may be incompatible requests.)
2. Does anyone have experience with the very large monitors for the MAC
(like the Viking 2400, a 24" monitor, 72dpi, 1280x960)? The pub. editor
wants to see two tabloid page side by side. Can PageMaker or Quark Express
(the candidates for this job) compress larger pages to make two-up fit
on one of these kinds of screens? If yes, are they at all readable?
Any help will be MOST appreciated!
