Machine Vision (Reference IT1/1)
Intelligent Robotics (Reference IT1/2)
Declarative Languages (Reference IT2/1)

Three new lectureships are being funded under the UGC Information Technology
Scheme, from 1st October 1984 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants must have postdoctoral experience and proven ability for
independent research and innovatopn.  Persons who already hold permanent
appointments in a United Kingdom University are not eligible for appointment
under the UGC Scheme.  Besides carrying out research in one of the areas
indicated below, each appointee will be expected to teach at both graduate
and undergraduate level.

Machine Vision
--------------
Tha appointee will be expected to integrate and strengthen the department's
programme of research in this area, and collaborate with an active robotics
research group.

Intelligent Robotics
--------------------
The appointee will join a strong research group working on the problem of
automatic assembly of parts by robots.

Declarative Language
--------------------
The appointee will be expected to integrate teaching and research into A.I.
programming languages, with particular emphasis on logic programming systems.

Salary will be on the Lecturer scale, #7,190 - #14,125, with superannuation
under the University Superannuation Scheme.  The starting salary will depend
upon age, qualifications and experience.
