I read your article regarding curling paper from laser printers. Though I cannot speculate on the causes for your laser printer, I can give you an idea on what we are seeing and doing about it. Suffice it to say, we do not have a great problem with curling. We have a large series of laser type printers. Apple LaserWriters, HP LaserJet plus, Imagen I300's, Apple NT2's, and versatec plotters. There is a slight amount of curling that occurs because of the extreme heat required to fuse the print, in combination with the paper rollers. I suspect that all Cannon engines, because the rollers, will have a problem with curling. We have an IBM 3812 that does not have extreme heat. The lack of inherent curling is offset by it being impossible to write drivers for it. We have been maintaining our paper stocks in a humidity controlled environment. If the paper is too dry, we have a problem with streaking because the ink does not fuse properly. If the paper is too wet, I suspect that the slight amount of curling would become a greater problem. We never had the curling problem because we noticed a molding problem. We are running this off of a BSD spooler. ---------------------------------------- Submissions to: desktop@plaid.sun.com Administrivia to: desktop-request@plaid.sun.com UUCP: {amdahl,decwrl,hplabs}!sun!plaid!desktop{-request} Archives can be gotten from the archive-server.
