[comp.text.desktop] PCTeX or PageMaker/Ventura Publisher

ugleung@cs.Buffalo.EDU (Leung Lee) (06/13/89)

Hello,

I checked out a demo Personal TeX sent me,
this demo prints out two TeX'ed short files,
the quality seems to be pretty darn good on my 9 pin Epson printer,
aside from noticing a bit of smearing when examined up close,
it seems to be pretty good quality compatible with the postscript
printers here at my university. Questions...

1) Does any one know if Page Maker or Venture Publisher can produced
the same level of output quality equal or better then PC Tex???

2) I have yet to down load DosTeX and SBTeX from some where. Do they
have good printing quality??? I think it is great to have good output
quality on a 9 pin printer, especially I am leaving school soon. And
will no longer have access to those wonderful free Postscript
   printers. :-(

3) Do DosTeX and SBTeX have previewer for .DVI files???

4) Where can I down load some free (LA)TeX programs???

Thanks for a million!

Leung
