[comp.text.desktop] Making your own compressed fonts

gjb@cs.brown.edu (09/11/89)

[My apologies for posting this to comp.fonts last week as well.]

Earlier this summer, someone in this newsgroup (I believe) posted
information on how to make your own horizontally or vertically scaled
version of a Mac font using Fontastic and/or Fontographer. The posting
was in reference to a query about the 80% compressed Garamond font
that Apple uses for its ads. Apparently, one can make a scaled screen
font and printer font that can be used like any other font, which
would be nice for programs like Word that can't scale type.

Could someone mail me some instructions on how to do this? Thanks.
