[comp.text.desktop] source for stand alone spell checker wanted. If poss. interactive.

tes@pyr.gatech.EDU (TOM SEXTON) (09/27/89)

Hello all,
I'm looking for the source to a stand alone or otherwise spell checker
with possible interactive interface to user to be incorporated into a text
editor desktop-type environment.
I would also be interested in any text editors (not emacs) already
developed that have that capacity. I need source code for this, so if any-
body has any info concerning such, it would be greatly appreciated.

					Thanks in advance,
						Tom Sexton

I recall seeing a couple on Compuserv, in the Borland programming
(GO BPROGA, or GO BPROGB) forum. I thing they were in Turbo-C.

ispell is wonderful, written for UNIX. It is usable standalone or from
GnuEmacs. The README file contains the following (probably out-of-date):

	Walt Buehring
Texas Instruments - Computer Science Center

	ARPA: Buehring%TI-CSL@CSNet-Relay
	UUCP: {smu, texsun, im4u, rice} ! ti-csl ! buehring

Another person who did some maintenance is:

	Geoff Kuenning geoff@ITcorp.com {uunet,trwrb}!desint!geoff

Maybe you can find the source and tell people where to ftp it.
