[comp.text.desktop] HP stands by their product - well-earned reputation

drstrip@intvax.UUCP (David R. Strip) (12/05/89)

My HP-LJII died after about 2 1/2 years of light use (~3500 pages).
The self-test indicated a need for a new interface board (really the
motherboard). That costs about $700. I called HP and whined about how
I didn't think this was really fair - that it was really a defective
card (which I really believe, given the symptoms.) Anyway, without
too much hassle HP agreed to fix the unit on extended warranty (ie, free),
I sent it out Thurs afternoon a week before thanksgiving, regular UPS, and
got it back Weds. after Thanksgiving, again regular UPS.

Any company that will take responsibility for their product a year
and a half after the warranty expires, and then be so expedient
about it has my thanks and vote of confidence.
