-Speaking of Logitech equipment, can anyone tell me (hopefully from
-experience) as to whether or not installing their scanner will result in
-the non-functionality of either com[12] serial ports?

  Thanks.  Several people have responded that they have not had any
  problems.  (and that's good enough for me 8-)).  Now I can go out and
  pick one up with a clear concious.
