[comp.text.desktop] Color proofing systems

amanda@mermaid.intercon.com (Amanda Walker) (01/16/90)

I've been looking for ways to proof (or print just a couple of copies)
of color-separated PostScript artwork. A QMS ColorScript printout is OK,
but it can't hold a very tight screen; I'm looking for something that I can
use to proof separations that come off of a Linotron with at least a 150
line screen, and maybe finer.

Has anyone had experience with the Letrachrome Direct Imaging System from
Letraset? It looks like what I'm looking for, but nowhere in the literature
I have does it say whether or not the inks it uses are transparent. I'm
looking for something that will give me something resembling a piece of
paper, not a bunch of transparent overlays stacked on top of each other.

Thanks,

Amanda Walker
