I bought the Adobe PostScript cartridge ($249) for my H-P LJII. As far
as I'm concerned, it is every bit as good as advertised. Just pop it into
the cartridge slot and when you power up, you've got a PS printer.
Switching between PS and PCL is just a matter of 3 touches on the control
panel. There are a number of utilities provided by Adobe with the cartridge,
but I'm not using them - you don't have to in order for it to work.

Performance wise, the cartridge is very fast, especially if you upgrade from
1.5Mb to 2.5Mb of memory in the printer. Most of my output is from Corel
Draw 1.2 and PageMaker 3.01. Identical source documents are printed much
faster under PS than under PCL, although I've not done any formal benchmarks.

Of course, PCL with the PS cartridge installed is the same PCL that came
with the printer, as far as both features and performance are concerned.

If you're using the PS cartridge with Windows 3.0, be sure to increase the
printer timeout value via the control panel to a very high value - I'm using
300. Otherwise you'll have timeout problems when printing complicated pages.

Overall, I'm 100% satisfied with this product.
