I am interested in information about the "best" desktop publisher that is available. I am just beginning a small documentation, typesetting shop and would like some information. I currently have a 386SX 20Mhz, with SVGA monitor. I should have the power to handle a package. I don't want to run out and buy something without some input. I also will get a Hewlett Packard LaserJet III soon. I have had the opportunity to use a postscript LN03R and have used the HP III and like it. For the price I think it is an excellent machine. I will also take any advice on equipment. I would like scallable fonts from 4-127? helv. and times roman. A driver for the HP III would be best. I don't necessarily want to spend 'tons' of money without being able to see a demo. Can anyone recommend a package. Any and all recommendations are appreciated. E-mail to the following address. Thanks in advance. ============================================================ Bill Kline | "We have so much time, and Acadmic Computing | so little to do. My first recommendation is that you avoid Hewlett Packard and go with something that is true PostScript. If you are at all serious about what you're doing it is a necessary and extremely valuable standard. An HP will be an albatross to you if you progess any further than office memos and resumes. If you are stuck on HP, then I really can't help you. I abandoned that path a long time ago. If you are interested in something beyond HP technology, email me and I'll throw some more suggestions at you. ########################################################################## asmith@questor.uucp The Chameleon Papers - Vancouver, BC CANADA Graphic Artist - Bad Mood Guy - NeXT user (The last two are in no way related) ########################################################################## "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" (Evil Dead II)

The HP Series III does indeed come with full Postscript compatibility for an extra 6 or 7 hundred dollars. It is anything but an albatross. /q
