[comp.text.desktop] Word Star - ASCII

casspe@jacobs.cs.orst.edu (Penny Cass) (03/07/91)

I am a Word Perfect user and not very familiar with Word
Star. A friend typed a lot of text for me in word-star
but doesn't know how to save it in ASCII. When I try
to read his document into Word Perfect 5.0 with Text In/Out
I get a lot of hierogliphics. Any help appreciated!

Two approaches:
You can save it as a Non-document from WordStar (Used to be 'N' from the
  main menu.)

You can use WordPerfect's CONVERT.EXE program, which will convert to or
from WordStar 3.3 (which will take care of most of the imbedded commands
from any version of WordStar). Start CONVERT from the DOS command line of
  your WordPerfect directory.
