[comp.text.desktop] TIFF imports into PageMaker 4.0 for the PC

heine@casbah.acns.nwu.edu (Eric Heine) (04/03/91)

I just installed PageMaker 4.0 for the PC. Previously, I used PageMaker
3.01. I'm having trouble getting imported TIFF files to display correctly
on screen (although they print okay) with 4.0. When, for example, I import
the same TIFF file to a publication in 3.01 and 4.0, the import to 3.01
displays properly on screen (VGA) and prints fine. When the same file is
imported to 4.0, the on-screen display of the image appears to have very
low resolution, with great loss of detail. I checked the 'image-control'
settings in both 3.01 and 4.0, and the lightness and contrast values were
set to the same numbers in both, and the screening patterns, angles and
frequency were identical. Has anyone else had this experience? Your
comments would be welcome.

Thanks,

I assume that you have set things correctly in the "preferences" box
concerning the image quality of imported graphics?
