A quick question on mail merge data formats. Is there a standard format
for data output by a database for use by the mail merge facility of a word
processor? I have heard about comma separated data fields, with some
provision for quoting if there are comma in the data fields, and also
some merge files which have field names at the beginning of the file.
But none of this was first-hand, reliable information. What I really need
is a specification for these types of files if one exists. Any pointers?
