[comp.text.desktop] Import an excel chart eps file to SUN interleaf

ahnc@drwho.ee.ufl.edu (Chieteuk Ahn) (04/11/91)

I have tried to import a chart generated by excel by making an eps file into
the interleaf postscript document on a SUN system.
Though one chart is good to import, when I tried to import several ones, which are
generated from different xlc files, and resize them to fit into one page of interleaf
I cannot get the correct output - only the last one is printed.
If anyone have any idea please post or mail to me.
	Thanks.

I post this message since I failed to send e-mail through INTERNET to the repliers or
to whom sent me helpful comments on that matter.

First thanks a lot. Your messages gives me a relief.

I happend to find a way to circumvent the problem. The story
is as follows:

After I saw your messages, I gave up to import the Excel chart
and decided to use the charting option within Interleaf though it is
limited and does not have the charting option I want - line chart with
hi-ro-close type supported by the Excel. One day I simply - during break -
imported an Excel generated chart remained into one of my Interleaf document page
which already has a chart generated by Interleaf itself. Then the printout
shows all charts - 3 Excel charts and one Interleaf chart - without any
problem. So then I tried to print several options by resizing the Interleaf
chart and hyding the Interleaf chart behind one of Excel chart in order not to
print Interleaf chart. Then the printout shows the Excel charts only.

Summary: The page which has Excel charts should have at least one
Interleaf chart or Interleaf generated graph as the last one - place the
Interleaf chart first at the position in which the last Excel chart will
be on, then cover it with the last Excel chart eps file probably resized.
I think the Interleaf chart deceives the ps interpreter in Interleaf to
render everything before it and thus print all.

	Thank you again for help.
