[comp.text.desktop] best graphics format

I've gotten copies of the Coopers Graphic Library from an FTP site
(files: DISK2100.zip through DISK2117.ZIP in the pcsig directory of
KSUVM.KSU.EDU) and found that they come in multiple graphic formats.
Of the formats included, I can use Mac Paints .MAC, GEM .IMG, and PC-
Paintbrush .PCX files (and possibly Microsoft Paint .MSP). I was
wondering if it is preferable to keep the graphics in any one of these
formats over another? Which format holds the highest resolution?
Similarly, when I scan files, they come in as .TIF files. Is it
best to leave them in this format or convert to another?
I am using Ventura v2 which converts most types of graphics into
IMG or .GEM formats when you import them. I edit drawings with Corel
Draw or the Paintbrush program that came with Windows 3. I usually
print the files on a Postscript printer, though sometimes on an Epson
LQ or an HP IIP. Any ideas would be appreciated.
