(If this is the wrong group, let me know; it seemed logical.) I have a problem with Ventura for Windows. They won't help me becaues I bought my copy more than 6 months ago so they won't speak to me unless I give them $150. I don't mind that for newbie-questions, but when a program dies on a protection exception, the developer should be saying "thankyou for telling us" not "pay up or live with it". Anyway, I hope someone out there in netland can help. Here's the problem. I'm renumbering my publication and suddenly "unrecoverable application error". I've renumbered plenty of other publications before without a worry. I got one free tech support call and she said it was because I had a large (60 rows) table. But I removed the chapter with the table from the publication and it still bombs. In fact it bombs with just 2 or 3 chapters, some only one page long. I have tried every combination of chapters looking for one which causes the problem, but that's not it. I stuck it under Codeview - it dies on a "General Protection Fault". Tech support won't talk to me now; I had my free call and they don't care that the advice was wrong. So, has anyone ever had this problem? Is there a workaround? And failing that, has anyone ever made Ventura behave nicely when it comes to bugs in the program? Kate Never buy the first version or the first port to a new OS of ANYTHING!
