[comp.mail.elm] Elm and curses

dave@csd4.milw.wisc.edu (David A Rasmussen) (05/18/88)

I was using elm with Dnet (an amiga xwindow clone) and was annoyed that
elm has 80*24 hardened into it. Has anyone looked into converting elm
to use standard curses?

Another problem that has annoyed me on occassion is when you ask
it to list your folders, it lists the files in your folder directory,
but when you enter the folder you want, you have to specify the full
path. This is kinda hard to explain to computer phobes. Is this
going to be improved in 2.0? (hint hint).

You can replace the the full path with '=foldername'. You can go back
to your system mailbox by 'C'hanging your folder to '%'.

Actually, you can use the prefix '=' (or '+' or '%') on the folder name
to indicate a folder in the folder directory.

There must be something broken in the version you are using.
Elm does not have 80 x 24 hard coded, and as far as folders
go,we never have to specify a full pathname to load a file
from the folder directory. If you are using 1.7 then something
is very wrong.
