I think that the last official release to comp.sources.unix was Elm 1.5.
I never saw version 1.6. Elm version 1.7beta was released to testers,
and it got widely distributed, but never officially, as it was in the
time frame that the author of Elm, David Taylor, needed to back out
of the moderator position.

Meanwhile, it's my understanding that David was working on an in-house
Elm version 2.0gamma, that somehow got leaked to the public. Since it
was buggy, and contained some proprietary code, the newly elected
Elm coordinator, Eric Christiansen of Altos Computer Systems, decided
that the next official version of Elm should be 2.1. A wise choice.

However, as an Elm tester, I got mail from Eric saying that the Elm
2.1alpha version was ready to be tested. (about 3-4 weeks
ago I think). His mail said that it was very hot in California, and
that he was on his 2nd six pack, and looking for a job in Alaska.
Never heard from him again.

Does Elm really have 666's hidden in it?
Is comp.mail.elm really the newsgroup from hell?
Do we have USENET connections to Alaska?
