[comp.mail.elm] Elm 2.1 Release

syd@dsinc.UUCP (Syd Weinstein) (09/24/88)

Elm 2.1 has been released to comp.sources.unix. It should
appear as its place in the queue arrives. After it has been
posted, watch comp.sources.bugs for any bug fix corrections.

Elm 2.2 development has started. It includes a complete rewrite
of the Configuration Script used by Elm. Other features are also
in the works. After you get Elm 2.1, if you have any suggestions
feel free to send them to elm@dsinc.UUCP.

Sometimes it takes a few weeks for a posting to get trough. Can
you post a description of modifications/enhancements with regard
to 1.5/1.7?

Is it available for ftp from somewhere in the mean time? Thanks.

Sorry to say, but no I cannot. I never ran 1.5, and I don't have
1.7 around anymore. As to new features, I think very few, if any,
were added in the 1.7...2.1 era. We have several coming in 2.2.
Most of the changes in versin 2 over version 1 releate to portability
and bug fixes. Some files have moved and some interfaces cleaned up.
The bigger changes will come in later versions, but they are some time
off. I agree, it will take several weeks, probably to get 2.1 out
the queue, but I am sorry, you will just have to wait.

jeff@cjsa.UUCP (C. Jeffery Small) (09/27/88)

Hello ELM group:

Site cjsa has been off the net for about three weeks while we relocated
business to Washington. Since I got re-connected (about a week ago) I
have seen almost no discussion in this group.

Could someone please send me a note letting me know the release status of
the 2.1 software (I didn't miss it did I?) and bring me up to date on any
other important news (if any) which I missed.

Also, moderator please note the new address for "cjsa" if you are maintaining
a mailing list.

Thanks.

Well It may not be avalible via FTP from anybody, but if you or anybody
else desires, you can download the sources from my BBS. The system
supports 1200, 2400, 9600 & 19200 with the Telebit TB+ modem, and can
be accessed 24hrs/7days. Below is the number for any who are interested.

The AMATEUR RADIO BBS System [Running XBBS]

 Data Rate: 1200 & 2400 (NON-MNP)
 Number : (301)-335-0858

 Data Rate: 2400 (MNP), 9600 & 19200 (PEP)
 Number : (301)-335-1955

The BBS has multiple modems in a hunting arrangement, so hopefully
it won't be too hard to gain access. If anyone has any questions, please
direct them to the Email address below... (good luck)
