Yes it was posted, and NO I don't know where it is in the queue. comp.sources.unix was quiet from Sep 15 until Oct 15, but Rich did ack receiving Elm. I suggest that someone with a public access uucp site ftp it from (I forget where it is) and make it available. After all I have seen about this subject, there seem to be many people, that haven't got a copy of Elm 2.1 yet. I think, we in Europe didn't get it at all. Wouldn't it be reasonable to repost it, so that everybody gets the released version. After advertising a copy of Elm 2.1 that turned out to be corrupted, I ended up promising about five people (including Jordan in Europe who promised some ten other people) to get a "good" copy. Someone suggested that I get it from hawk.ulowell.edu. Hawk has yet to answer an ftp command, and I have tried every other day for the last ten days. Does anyone _else_ have a copy of Elm 2.1 that I can FTP for my archives and for all the people I've (directly and undirectly) promised it to? As Elm coordinator, I did post the sources to comp.sources.unix and received an ack back from Rich that he recieved them. That was in mid September, 1988. I do not know the queue status of comp.sources.unix nor do I know the policies of its moderator. Remember in September and October the sources newsgroup was quiet so I do not know the backlog. Has anyone asked Rich. I have not as of yet, because, at first I understood that it took 30 days to get through rich's queue, it is now only about 60 days, and of that time over half, Rich was not around and therefore not posting anything. I, Rich, and all the people who work on Elm also have jobs. As the Elm list can agree, I disappear for a week at a time or so regularly and then do some Elm work again. I have kept quiet as the 'me too's started piling up in this group, but enough. If you really want it, spend the $$ and uucp it from an archive site. As was posted before there are several that have Elm 2.1 available, a couple of FTP sites and a couple of UUCP sites, including ours. Somehow all those 'in the know' got it, and even counting the Elm development group, they all got it via polling someone, either someone that polled dsinc, or polling dsinc directly. I would like to respectfully request that the current person in charge of the source check with the comp.source.? group administrator and get a firm distribution date. If that can't be done, then I suggest that the source be posted to this group so that all interested parties can receive a copy. BTW, I was off the net for a brief period, and during that time the official administrator of the ELM source appears to have changed. Could the person or persons now in charge please post a brief summary of the current state of administration and development efforts. For those who want to get a copy of the Elm-2.1 release, and are willing to foot the bill of the phone call (since it has been a NO-SHOW item in under comp.sources.unix), it is AVALIBLE for download from my BBS in Maryland. The system is running XBBS and supports Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, Kermit, and several other protocols. The source for Elm-2.1 is located in the UNIX directory of the BBS, and anyone can download it (no validation required!).
