[comp.mail.elm] Header problems on incoming mail

sasblc@sas.UUCP (Brad Chisholm) (03/05/89)

I recently installed Interactive's 386/ix on my IBM PS/2 Model 80, and am
using Elm 2.1 PL1 as my mail user interface. I'm currently having problems
with headers on incoming mail, and while I don't think it's really an Elm
problem, I'm hoping some of you experts can help. The system comes with
sendmail and smail/rmail as the delivery agents. The problem is that an extra
local header seems to be prepended to all incoming mail. As a result, the
"From" and "Subject" fields in Elm are getting confused. Can anyone tell me
what's happening, and how I can fix it? Extra points awarded for a cogent
explanation of sendmail/rmail interaction. An example header follows. Any
help will be MUCH appreciated. (Please note the blank line between "Status:"
and ">From"... This is what seems to be confusing Elm.)
