Mysteriously when I tried Configure -d a second time after applying PL5 it all worked !! Thanks folks, esp Rob. Thanks. I now have PL5 running on my Sun3/60. I noticed a rather serious phenomenon with elm today. I believe the Elm window was closed without exiting from it which left behind: ps ax PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND 587 p2 D 49:46 /amd/dopey/indra/bin.68020/elm ps avx PID TT STAT TIME SL RE PAGEIN SIZE RSS LIM %CPU %MEM COMMAND 587 p2 D 49:47 0 99 478765 2088 96 xx 1.6 1.3 elm ps alx F UID PID PPID CP PRI NI SZ RSS WCHAN STAT TT TIME COMMAND 4080011141 587 1 5 -5 02088 96 socket D p2 49:48 /amd/dopey/indra/bin.68020/elm elm running away had accumulated 49 minutes of cpu time and did not respond to HUP or QUIT signals. My sunview perfmeter for cpu and paging showed jagged peaks even when no other activity was present. It became flat after I kill -9ed 587. Any insights? On the newmail front, if newmail reports a new mail (hmmm did I say that right?) and then I quit out of elm with a Q command, the newmail window reports the last new mail again, this time omitting the sender as in the specific example: Indra Singhal -- su'd to kill... a runaway process. -- su'd to kill... a runaway process. (This mail was sent by me to the su alias thus it came back to me.) I have noticed this happening before. Once again... any insights ? Thanks. -- Indra K.
