[comp.mail.elm] Why not make arepdaemon smarter?

tar@ksuvax1.cis.ksu.edu (Tim Ramsey) (05/27/89)

I'm sort of new to elm, so if this is one of those frequently asked questions,
flame me by email.

I see from reading the source to arepdaemon that it won't respond to mail
that contains the header "X-Mailer: fastmail". Aside from the fact that
I've never seen this convention before, why not expand the list of headers
that inhibit an auto-reply?

The things that vacation(1) uses come to mind:

Precedence: bulk
Precedence: junk

Also, these might work:

Errors-To:

Now these I've seen. I add "Precedence: bulk" to a mailing list I maintain
and I haven't seen a blip from a vacation program.

While I'm on the subject, does anyone use autoreply?
