We are a large Apollo site (about 700 nodes) running SR9.7.1 (soon to
be SR10.1) Domain/IX. We use primarily Unix Sys V, with most users still
on generic mail or mailx. We have been experimenting with both Elm and
Mush (I just started reading this newsgroup so I hope it's not a sin to
mention another mailer here). I have a few questions that I hope someone
out there can help answer.
1) We first installed Elm about 3 months ago and the version number
appears to be 2.2dev PL1. Most of the articles I've seen here
indicate that PL8 is the latest level. How can we get the updates
to bring us up to PL8? Along this line also, are there any special
Apollo considerations we should know about?
2) Our version of Elm always opens a new read window for reading mail,
regardless of the size of the message. It would seem to be more
efficient to have short messages output to an existing window, saving
the time to create the read window. Also, we would still like to be
able to MARK and COPY from this window. Can Elm be tailored to do this?
3) Finally, is it possible to set Elm up to include a header line at the
top of reply/forwarded mail? The header I'm thinking of would be
similar to the "In article <Questions about Elm>, Marv Yount writes:"
seen so often in net articles. The more we get involved with mail the
more I think we will need to have a means of putting a tag like this
in our replies.
Thanks in advance,
