When I read my mail at work, I use an HP terminal (actually, an X-window "terminal" that emulates an HP) that has softkeys, so I like to have elm use the softkey functionality. However, when I log on from home, I use a terminal (Wyse 30 emulation) without softkeys, and the softkey-setup escape sequences throw my home terminal out of whack. So, I put "softkeys = OFF" in my elmrc, and if I'm at work I execute elm with the -K option. For some reason, the -K doesn't seem to everride my elmrc, and I still don't get my softkeys. A similar strategy does work with the arrow vs. reverse video setup, though. I have "arrow = OFF" in my elmrc so I get inverse video, but when I execute "elm -a," I get the arrow instead. The Reference guide and man page say nothing about whether the command line or elmrc option has precedence, though I assumed the command line did. Anyone know what gives? ----- Jeff Benjamin {ucbvax, hplabs}!hpfcla!benji Graphics Technology Division benji%hpfcla@hplabs.HP.COM Hewlett Packard Co. Fort Collins, Colorado
