[comp.mail.elm] Path Alias Problem

andrew@qcc-hal.UUCP (Andrew Kostiuk) (11/08/89)

Hi:

We are having some problem with Elm 2.2 PL9 on a Sun 386i sunning SunOS 4.0.1.
If the destination address for a mailing is not specified with its complete
path name, Elm appears to hang.

The UUPATH database appears to be correct and the paths to various hosts is
correctly extracted by 'uuhosts'. 'pathalias' is used to generate the
'palias' files. Using the '-d' option of Elm, I can see that Elm accesses
the palias database but never seems to return.

Has anyone experienced this problem in the past? Many thanks in advance
for any suggestions.

I have had the same problem, continuously up to PL13 now. I am
running Elm on 14 3B1's but the problem only appears on one machine.
Odd.

I had thought perhaps I had somehow screwed up the installation on
that one machine, but I have not figured out how.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate hearing.
