Teltone Corporation in Kirkland, WA has an immediate opening for an assistant to the system administrator. We're looking for someone with a solid Unix background, some "C" (preferably) and some general computer hardware familiarity. Duties will be varied, depending upon your abilities and interests, and may include new software and hardware installation, hacking and debugging, manual maintenance, user support, cabling, rre-cabling, booting, and just about everything else required to keep 4 Unix machines and their peripherals running 24 hours a day, in support of software engineering. We have 2 Vax 750's running Unix (one on 4.1bsd, one recently upgraded to 4.2bsd), and 2 brand new Pyramid 90x superminis (the first in the Northwest!) running Pyramids dual-universe 4.2/System 5 port of Unix. There's lots of routine work, but there's also something new every day. If you have a good general background, an eagerness to learn, can work well with people, and have good communication skills, you will have ample opportunity to learn specific harware and sharpen your programming skills here at Teltone.
