Hi First: Happy New Year ( I know, you read this about 1'000'000 times) :-) Second: I have installed Elm2.2 on my machine (Plexus P/55, UNIX SysV.2) Then I patched Elm2.2 with the patches #0..#7. Everything works great. But with patch #8....... see below what's happened. ========================================================================= Script started on Wed Jan 10 15:52:31 1990 # patch -p -N <patches/patch8 Hmm... Looks like a new-style context diff to me... The text leading up to this was: ...[some stuff deleted]... |Index: src/mailmsg2.c |Prereq: 2.32 |*** ../elm2.2/src/mailmsg2.c Mon May 8 21:53:52 1989 |--- src/mailmsg2.c Wed May 24 19:01:21 1989 -------------------------- Good. Is "Assertion failed" an error from "patch"? You see, I have patch patchlevel #12. And "core dumped", It's caused by the shell ? I'm not an expert in such things, but it looks like an error in patch. I tried with ksh (Korn-Shell) and sh (Bourne-Shell). No difference. Who can help me ???? How can I fix that ? How can I patch the rest from Elm2.2 ? Please e-mail. The patch 8 that was posted to the net was corrupt. You need to find a neighbour with the patch or use the mail server on dsinc.com. I had exactly the same problem, and fixed it by getting a good copy of the patch. -- ______ JANET :jonathan@uk.ac.keele.cs Jonathan Knight, / BITNET:jonathan%cs.kl.ac.uk@ukacrl Department of Computer Science / _ __ other :jonathan@cs.keele.ac.uk University of Keele, Keele, (_/ (_) / / UUCP :...!ukc!kl-cs!jonathan Staffordshire. Note, that its archive-server@dsi.com not dsinc.com I guess that patch 8 got corrupted somewhere in the transition, as it was good at many of the sites. Oh, well, thus is usenet. Anyway, the archive-server stands ready to help. As a side note, please do not use anonuucp to dsinc to send requests to the archive-server. It cannot figure out a viable return path that way, and your request usually bounces. Also it will not respond to users named root or daemon to avoid mailer loops. -- ===================================================================== Sydney S.
